The Sweet Smell of Money
Gwyneth Paltrow may be many things - an actress, a mother, Chris Martin's wife, a vegan - but exciting she is not. But, strangely, Estee Lauder seems to think so. Gwyneth has been drafted in to replace the increasingly raddled posh bird Liz Hurley as the new face for their perfumes. Gwyneth, says the company, is "a bit more exciting" and will "vamp up its image and make it more sexy". Really? She's certainly younger than Liz but vampy, sexy and exciting? When did tofu mash and whining become hot?

Ahhh!!! I REMEMBER that rag! She even ADMITTED her mother was telling her to stand up straight and that her grandad had told her her tits were like two fried eggs!
She'd be the most BORING perpetually single, third grade teacher in the world if she were born to different parents.

What a subversive photo: her anti-erotic pose and clothing, her lack of sexual charm, her ability to communicate "F**k You" without saying a word, looking sweet and innocent at the same time. For a consumer company trying to foster an image and improve sales, GP is a dangerous person to tie in with brand recognition.
She never wears a bra. I wish I could get away with that.
She's an awesome actress, you can't take that away. It's also necessary to understand the milieu from whence she came: private school girl, metropolitan, wealthy family, etc. She's bound to have that Nikki Hilton type of drippy demeanor.
As a regular user of EL products, I was horrified to see Gwynnie as the face of Estee Lauder. This is fun and sexy? Maybe if you have been in a stimulus deprivation chamber for three weeks. This woman is about as boring as watching paint dry...wait, she's not that fun - it's more like watching paint that has already dried.

I believe that fits Ms. Paltrow to a T.
She looks like she can use perfume. Which is not a good thing when you are trying to sell it. She doesn't even look pretty in that picture.
